Human Geography and Globalisation

Bachelor Management Innovation et Humanités

50 hours
10 ECTS credits

The aim of this module is to introduce students to the nature and spatial outcome of global processes in the human environment. The module will provide an understanding and contributions from scholars in the areas of demography, resource management, culture, economic systems and geopolitics. Students will be able to develop and link their awareness of various fields of human geography specifically studied in sustainable development and globalisation.

Specifically, the module emphasises the interplay of human geography principles with the overarching themes of sustainable development and globalisation. As a result, students will not only develop a more profound grasp of these complex dynamics but also learn to critically analyse and apply their knowledge to address the real-world challenges and opportunities associated with contemporary global issues.

On completion of this module, the student should be able to:

  1. Apply appropriate aspects of geographical analysis to understand the character, significance, and likely impact of recent developments in world affairs.
  2. Understand and critically analyse the historical evolution, principal features, and current challenges of globalization.
  3. Identify, explain and critically analyse the main features of human geography in relation to population, resources, the environment, society, and culture, with particular reference to sustainable development.
  4. Identify, explain, and critically analyse the main features of human geography in relation to economic and political trends.
